As a service business, we strive to provide value for our fees.
In order to understand your priorities and services you require, we offer a 30-minute complimentary fact finding meeting or phone call. Based on the information gathered we then develop the list of work required and a fee quote.
This is the “steps and process” we follow:
Steps and Process
- Discuss, by phone and/or in meeting, your requirements and concerns.
- Based on your requirements, we would prepare an estimated “scope of work”—a list of work to complete and the estimated time to complete these. Based on the “scope of work” and time required, we prepare an estimated fee quote.
- The estimated scope of work and fees are sent to you for review, questions and approval.
- After approval, the scope and fees are outlined in an “engagement letter”. This letter also includes other disclosures required by the Chartered Professional Accountants. We will ask you to sign and return a copy for our files. We are required to present this letter to the Institute as part of the “practice inspection” process.
- If you are presently working with another accountant, our protocol requires that we send a “courtesy letter” to him/her. Please provide us with his/her name, firm name, address and email address.
- For corporate engagements, our fees are invoiced in three instalments—the first
retainer invoice is due upon signing of the “engagement letter”, the timing of the
other two instalments will be based on your fiscal year. All dates are disclosed in
the “engagement letter”. - For personal income tax preparation, the fee is payable in two instalments—one-
half at commencement and the balance on completion. - For consultation engagements, the fee is usually based on an hourly basis.
